welcome

“Anyone wanting to know something about where modern dance is today can find the roots in this Jean Erdman retrospective” said New York Times Dance Critic, Anna Kisselgoff in 1985 in response to a major retrospective of the choreographer’s work.  That comment remains true to this day. Erdman’s love of world dance cultures, synthesis of the psychological and the spiritual through movement, exploration of mythological patterns and forms, and belief in the communicative power of abstraction are themes that continue to fascinate choreographers and audiences today.
